schneider+schumacher wins high-rise competition in Shenzhen

14.08.2018 - Awards

The Telecommunications Centre (TCC), with an area of approximately 62,000m², will be used almost exclusively to accommodate mainframe computers. The only office units in the building will be a post office, plus the data centre at the base. This explains why the skyscraper has almost no windows.

The design of the exterior alludes to the building’s future function and is reminiscent of a mainframe computer. Satin-glass cladding and high-gloss polished slats ensure not only that the building fits harmoniously into the urban landscape, they also prevent it from overheating.

The project is being developed in collaboration with the Chinese partner China Northeast Architecture Design & Research Institute.
